Most SSAO algorithms are either high-quality or fast.Simple SSAO is both the fastest and best quality SSAO you´ll come across.

Features:

It is based on a well known article I wrote years ago.

Its carefully crafted approximate separable kernel provides high accuracy with as few as 8 samples per pixel, while other algorithms need at least 24 for comparable quality.

While most algorithms simply multiply the occlusion on top of the final image, giving a washed out look, SSSAO can integrate with Unity's lightning pipeline to provide accurate occlusion of ambient lighting.

Optionally calculates a first bounce of indirect light, which can be used to further increase the realism of your scene.

Moreover, the raw output is less noisy thanks to the use of interleaved sampling, which reduces the need for additional blurring. It is very consistent when the camera moves, and shows little to no haloing. You can use it with any rendering path, deferred or forward.

Simple SSAO exposes lots of easy-to-understand parameters, and is highly tweakable.
